Will I have my own room?
Each artist/writer is provided with a large comfortable private living and working space in a peaceful environment.

What facilities are available on site?
Other facilities include a large rehearsal/dance/aerial space (rigging 6 metres in height), darkroom and painting/making studio. Use of these is scheduled. Artists should specify in their application if they will need the use of these spaces.

Are meals provided?
The residency is primarily self-catering. Residents are free to use our large collective kitchen. Shopping can be done at our local shops and twice weekly farmers’ market. Two meals per week are cooked by the host and shared with all residents.

How many artists are in residence at one time?
We have three large private living and working spaces. The number of artists on site at any one time varies.

Can I bring my partner or children?
Couples and families are welcome. Please contact us directly for specific requests.

What are the working languages at La Devignère?
English, French, Spanish

Is the residency wheelchair accessible?
Unfortunately not.

Do artists need to produce or present work at the end of the residency period?
We ask each artist/writer to present work in progress at the end of the residency period. This is very informal and can take any form the artist wishes.

Is there any funding that I can apply for to pay the costs of the residency?
Our residencies are self-funded by the artist. However, we are happy to provide letters of support for grants or funding.

How do I get to La Devignère?
We are located 40 minutes’ drive from Angouleme and two hours from Bordeaux. Angouleme is the nearest train station. This is on the main Paris-Bordeaux line. There is also a limited bus service from Angouleme to Chasseneuil (5 mins drive). Transport can be arranged from Angouleme train station at a small extra cost on request.

Can I buy materials nearby or have them delivered before I arrive?
Access to arts materials is limited in the area. We are happy to accept deliveries if needed.

Are collaborative groups welcome?
Small collaborative groups are welcome. Please contact us with specific requests.

When will I need to pay the fee?
We request a deposit in order to reserve a space on the residency once an application has been accepted. The balance can be paid before or during the residency period.

Do you offer visa sponsorship for residents from outside of the EU?
We cannot provide visa sponsorship for residents from outside of the EU.
